Three questions (Questions and answers)

1. What were the three questions that occurred to the king? What did he do get the answers to his questions?
The king wanted to know the right time to do every action, the right people to listen to, and the most important thing to do. He called wise men to answer these questions.

2. What answers did the wise men give to his first question?
Some said the right time is decided by making a timetable. Others said it is by listening to wise men or astrologers, while some suggested magicians could tell the correct time.

3. How did the wise men answer his second question?
For the second question, some wise men said the most important people are counselors, some said priests, some said doctors, and others said soldiers because each helps in different situations.

4. What answers did the king get for his third question?
The wise men gave different answers. Some said science was most important, some said skill in fighting, while others said religion or prayers. Their answers confused the king, so he was not satisfied.

5. Why did he decide to consult a hermit?
The king did not find the wise men’s answers helpful. He decided to consult a simple hermit, known for wisdom and holiness, who lived in the forest and answered people with truth and kindness.

6. Where did the king meet the hermit? How did the hermit receive the king?
The king met the hermit in his hut in the forest. The hermit welcomed him silently, greeted him kindly, and continued digging the ground with his spade, showing no special honor to the king.

7. How did the king help the hermit?
The king saw the hermit tired while digging the ground. Out of kindness, he took the spade from the hermit and started digging the earth himself to help him in his work.

8. How did the king nurse the wounded stranger?
The king saw a man badly wounded. He washed his wound, bandaged it, and stopped the bleeding. He carried the man to the hut, gave him water, and allowed him to rest safely.

9. Why did the wounded person desire to serve the king as his most faithful slave?*
The wounded man had once planned to kill the king because the king punished his brother. But the king saved his life instead, so he felt guilty and wanted to serve him faithfully.

10. How did the hermit answer the king’s questions?
The hermit said the right time is “now” because it is the most important moment. The right person is “the one you are with.” The most important work is to “do good to others.”

11. Was the king satisfied with the hermit’s answers? Give a reasoned answer.
Yes, the king was satisfied. He understood that living in the present, caring for people around us, and helping others is the true wisdom of life. He realized these were better answers than the wise men’s.
